Founded in 1967 by Richard Hickox, Wooburn Singers has established itself as one of the finest mixed voice choirs in the UK. Recording credits include Berlioz's Te Deum under Abbado, Langlais's Salve Regina and Burgon's Requiem, and a compilation of Music for the Last Night of the Proms with the RPO and Sir Charles Groves which was a best seller at the time of its release.

The choir’s wide-ranging repertoire encompasses well-known major orchestral works as well as complex chamber pieces and recent choral compositions in a variety of styles and genres. See our upcoming concerts and events.

Wooburn Singers’ music director is Greg Beardsell, a conductor of exceptional energy, creativity and flair. His passion for high standards of voice production and quality in performance are a spur to high levels of musical achievement. As well as directing Wooburn Singers, Greg is also musical director of the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus, the Irish Youth Choir, the Ulster Youth choir, and associate musical director of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain.

Wooburn Singers has a lively social atmosphere with a variety of events taking place throughout the year. The annual choir dinner in January is a regular highlight, to which members may bring family and friends. The choir celebrated its 40th anniversary in May 2007 with a special concert featuring music from the choir's extensive repertoire, followed by a lively reception for past and present audience members, singers and conductors (see photos).

Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings 8.00pm - 10.00pm at St Paul's School, Stratford Drive, Wooburn, Buckinghamshire HP10 0QH, and usually also on the Monday before a concert. Contact us for more details or to arrange a visit for a few rehearsals prior to audition.
